Canada Day on the Island: gates open 8am with World Cup matches at 9am, 1pm and 5pm, the False Creek Ferries water ballet at 8:30am, and a noon ceremony with welcome speeches, the anthem performed by busker Shawn Bullshields, and a giant cake baked by the Granville Island Hotel pastry chef. Island-wide live music, free Jazz Festival performances and artisan displays all day.
